A Fragrant Meditation Lamp

As the fall leaves flutter to the ground, I’m reminded of the impermanence of all arising phenomena. It’s a reminder to avoid getting attached to the pleasant experiences and in fact all that presents itself to our senses in life. This is like going with the flow, allowing ourselves to relax into all that happens. When we identify with our bodies, seeking some kind of permanence to our pleasure or justification for our many shortcomings, we enter into a never-ending cycle of pain and suffering. I’ve noticed in the most enlightened masters of this world a total selflessness that makes pain in the body nothing different from any other experience. It’s in fact as if they don’t feel the pain, from our shortsighted vision, but in fact they feel it even more acutely but don’t identify with it. Thus, to them it is no different than something enjoyable. It just is. Like all the rest it’s impermanent, temporary, illusory, empty. No need to get disturbed or excited, we can just relax into all that happens. Life becomes much easier when we are going with the flow.

When we are truly in the present moment, not attached to the experiences or the accompanying thoughts, letting it all glide in a never-ending display of the one light, then we touch upon the immortality of our true being. It’s beyond description, beyond concepts, has always been and will ever be. It is what we are.

Here is the text I’ve prepared for this new product.

Invocation Meditation Lamp
A gentle flame, an awakening fragrance.

This lamp burns vegetable oil. We recommend jojoba oil, but other oils work as well. Its small flame slowly warms the water in the neighbouring basin, where you add a few drops of concentrate or perfume. Carried by this quiet warmth, the essences drift through the room and fill it with their soothing presence.

It is inspired by the qulliq, the Inuit seal-oil lamp. For generations, the qulliq lit, warmed and gathered families in the igloos and dwellings of the Far North. Our lamp carries that same spirit: a simple light, a living warmth, an inspiring fragrance and a moment of stillness.

The launch discount code is not yet ready. We also need to prepare the accessories, especially the jojoba oil that we find to be the best for this lamp. So, better to wait for another week or so before purchasing this unique lamp. I have found it to be very pleasant and inspiring, conducive to meditation, reflection and the study of sacred texts.

Have a beautiful fall season!
Love and Light
