CANADIAN HEMLOCK OR EASTERN HEMLOCK SPRUCE

A southernmost species, the Canadian hemlock spruce or Eastern Hemlock only grows in southern Quebec. It tolerates remarkably well the shade of the underwoods. Its growth is slow, but it can live more than 400 years!

It sometimes grows in pure settlements, especially on sites which are not appropriate for the other evergreens. The Canadian hemlock can grow in the company of sugar maple, beech, yellow birch and white spruce.

The natural forest fragrance so appreciated by Chiiyaam’s users is due in part to Hemlocks’ essential oils. Its used for its purifying qualities, especially for the psychic protection that it grants to those which use it. Chiiyaam confers a very special protection, well appreciated by those which have elevated psychic sensitivity and this characteristic partly comes from Eastern hemlock.
