TIME AND CIRCUMSTANCES

We are living through a rather painful moment in the history of humanity and the planet. Nothing new, however — this kind of devious ways has occurred several times before. Our history, which is very ancient, speaks of four different worlds. We are just past the end of the 5th world¹, thus its description has not yet entered the oral history. The transition is very chaotic and very painful for humanity, the natural species and Mother Earth.

This is a temporary and transitional phase. It will end soon. When I say soon, I am speaking from a planetary vision of time, not a human one. Prophecies are like a clock without markings. We know what will happen, but not when. That is how it is.

But if we speak of human time, especially in these days of transition and suffering, it is important to always return to the understanding of the immortality of our essence. The pure total consciousness of who we are never disappears. We become distracted and forget our true nature when we incarnate into the dense worlds of materiality. But deep within, we know. We know ourselves to be eternal. This is very important and easy to demonstrate. For if we were truly ephemeral, we would have a precise memory of the moment we began to exist. But if you look within yourself, you will not find the moment of beginning. Because there is none. You have always been and you will always be.

This inner search and innate knowledge of our immortality is very important. It is the guarantor of a stability and equanimity of soul that is vital to our quality of life. When things go wrong, when we are ill, suffering, discouraged, tired, depressed, anxious, angry, frustrated, and caught in other difficult emotions, it is healing to understand that this is temporary. It will pass. It is transitional. Moreover, it is the occasion, the great opportunity, to search within for what has provoked these difficult moments.

Every circumstance and all difficult moments are the consequence of our past thoughts, words and actions. It is very useful to search within for the source of our wanderings. When have we taken a bitter pleasure in seeing the difficulties of those we don’t like? When have we spoken with anger and impatience to those close to us and to the people we encounter in our daily lives? What are the gestures and actions that have caused difficulties for others? Have we uttered things that are less than true? Have we taken what did not belong to us? Have we harmed others? Have we acted with indifference and an absence of generosity toward the poorest and most destitute of this world? And so on. It is healing to examine why we are experiencing what is happening. It is a very fruitful and fertile spiritual exercise. Thus, all the circumstances of our lives become a spiritual practice, particularly the most painful and difficult ones.

It is reassuring to know that there is a remedy for suffering. For all suffering! It is good to understand that nothing is permanent. Every moment is a moment of transformation and we are at the helm. We hold the steering wheel of our lives. Let us choose the road that leads to liberation, to illumination. For this, let us choose the narrow path of integrity, generosity, goodness, equanimity, patience, wisdom and stillness in the clear perception of the present moment. Results can be long in coming, sometimes they do not even come in the current incarnation, but in the next life. Let us accept this, for it is we who have created these moments and it is up to us to transform them. After winter comes spring. Always…
