To pick up where we left off last weekend: how can we move towards liberation? The freedom to be omniscient, without limitations, able to help hundreds of beings, everywhere, all at the same time? Because that is our destiny. We all have within us, even if sometimes buried deep down, the desire to save the world. It is no coincidence that most movies feature a hero or heroine who saves the innocent, the poor, and even the planet. This corresponds to the deepest desire of human beings: to be able to truly help others.
It is the golden rule of all religions: love others as we would like to be loved. And this rule is infallible. The laws of cause and effect are unyielding and error-free. If we help others, we will benefit from favorable circumstances. But to reach the body of light, we need even more… Any attachment to pleasures and desires, to loves and friendships, to experiences and events and to the material goods of this world, keeps us here. What we want is to transcend, to ascend, to become truly free from the endless artifices of the world of illusions and appearances. To do this, we must want to bring others what can truly help them: wisdom. What brings peace, unconditional and unlimited love, and joy without object, which is defined as bliss, is the compelling desire to embody wisdom, the wisdoms that can truly lead to liberation. So, returning to our previous conversations, it begins with spiritual practice.
When we sit in silence observing the breath, without attachment to the thoughts and emotions that come and go like clouds in the sky, we arrive at the first stage of this path. Calmness. Only in calmness can we carefully observe the pitfalls that line our path and appear as discordant emotions or obsessive thoughts. For they are countless, and we allow ourselves to be caught up in them very easily. If we react, we create unpleasant and difficult circumstances that hinder our ability to evolve. This is where antidotes are valuable.
The world is created by the five elements. When our physical body disappears during ascension, it actually returns to the purity of the elements, freeing our consciousness, which no longer needs them. Our physical body is made up of these elements, and by learning about them, we can acquire more tools to manage the emotions and thoughts they arouse.
In all the ancient medicines and spiritualities of the world, we find theories of the five elements. They are all slightly different and sometimes, as in Chinese medicine, do not even have the same elements. But each system is complete and correct. They cannot be mixed. They are coherent systems of understanding. The Tibetans have two that are different. Here in America, they are: water, earth, fire, wind, and sacred sound. The sacred sound that spreads between worlds is the infinite space in which the other elements play.
The sacred sound within us corresponds to the ability to synthesize a great deal of information. It corresponds to intuition and the higher faculties. Just as the elements combine together in infinite space to form what exists, so too does this space within us give rise to true spiritual understanding. Seeing what is true. When the sacred sound is out of balance, it produces anger. Anger is the most harmful and destructive of emotions. Every moment of anger creates weeks of negative karma.
Earth gives rise to security, the feeling of being surrounded, loved, and trusting in ourselves and others. When out of balance, it produces anxiety, angst, and obsessions.
Water gives us access to our ancestors, to the primordial messages of the world, and to our roots in the perpetuity of our continuity. When out of balance, it gives rise to fear.
Wind gives courage, affirmation of being, and access to all the energies we need to manifest our life mission. When out of balance, it brings grief, sorrow, and despair.
Fire gives access to love, compassion, understanding of others, and tolerance. When out of balance, it produces hatred and cruelty.
I invite you to use your knowledge and understanding of the elements to guide you on your path. All the great traditions do so. To help us, I have created the Spirit Perfumes of the five elements. You will find these Sacred Essences here. They come with a small booklet that explains them. They can help you harmonize the elements within yourself, as they have been blessed and encoded for this purpose.
Happy exploring and happy journeying!
