1. IntroductionThis is an article I wrote in response to many questions about the end of the Mayan calendar. This very accurate calendar ended a 27,500-year cycle on December 21, 2012. I had been invited by a Mayan organization in Merida, Mexico to celebrate the change of era with them.

The coyote, often called the sacred dog by First Nations peoples in America, is the cunning, the trickster and the prankster.
The most important spiritual events in the lives of all people on earth are the rites of passage. As in nature, rites of passage mark the rhythm of the seasons of human life. Each one signals the beginning of a new stage in life and the evolution of those who benefit from these life-changing experiences.
The way people wear their hair is an alignment of their thinking; the braids (unity of thought), the hair tied back (safety of thought) and the color (conviction of thought). The appearance of the hair is of great importance, as each style represents a different state of mind. Hair is widely regarded as an extension of one’s thoughts.
None of us are perfect. But if we are persistent and acknowledge our imperfections without judgement, we can transform them. But then we often realize that the goal was not as important as the path to get there.
We are at the crossroads. Before us is a road and a path. The road is an easy one, accepting things as they are and blending comfortably into the system.
There is a special bliss that comes when we are in harmony with the divine will. This harmony that infuses every moment of life gives meaning to our trials and illuminates daily life with the light of wisdom.
